印度传统basmati米,来自喜马拉雅山脚下的平原,据说是古代印度和波斯国王桌上的佳肴之一。喜马拉雅山脚一带的纯净水源及突然中的丰富矿物质,因此种出了品质优良的basmathi米。它含有丰富的维他命B和纤维素,而淀粉质却较一般大米少。
