中医对眩晕的定义可分为眩和晕两方面。眩，通常指目眩，视物不清、眼花。晕，通常指头晕，会出现视物旋转、天旋地转，或是头昏沉、晃动、行走不稳等情况。
当两者情况同时出现时，可称作眩晕。
