如何做好居家安全,减少长辈跌倒的风险?傅映欣 职能治疗师

跌倒是老年人常见的意外伤害之一。「五老有一跌,十跌有三伤」,据统计,老年人跌倒的发生率约有20-30%;而跌倒事件中,约有三成造成意外伤害,轻则皮肉伤,重则导致骨折或颅内出血,造成失能及死亡。虽然我们一般上仍然会有「老人防跌」的警觉,但多数的时候还是采取了不积极的方式来应对如:少走,少搬,少外出等。

采取减少活动的方式乍看之下确实是减少了跌倒的风险,但我们往往忽略了生理或心理上所带来的影响。例如肌肉量会因为活动量不足而流失,导致老年人更加衰弱无力,骨质流失导致骨质疏松而产生骨折或关节僵硬等间接促成了一系列大大小小的病痛,让老年人的身体健康和生活品质大大下降!

所以,在注意老年人的居家安全这一块,我们应该用更加正确的方式来对待,因为老年人跌倒的通常是多重因素交互印象所造成的后果,我们都应该适时观察家中长辈的动态或行为,或重新评估适合老年人的居住环境,来降低他们在家中受伤的风险。
